Alongside DRAGON QUEST and FINAL FANTASY, the SaGa series is highly regarded among Square Enix fans. The first three titles were initially branded as "FINAL FANTASY LEGEND" for Game Boy in overseas markets and received praise for their intricate yet captivating combat system.

Romancing SaGa 2 takes the diverse gameplay of previous entries and combines it with an open-ended free-form scenario system that unfolds in a vast world. Players assume the role of successive emperors, shaping the history of the world through their every action.

This unique title brings back familiar series features like formations and glimmers.

Story:

It all begins with the melody of a solitary bard in a lively tavern.

Glorious nations, like the Varennes Empire, which had once brought peace to the world, have withered away over centuries, allowing malevolent forces to emerge in distant regions.

Before long, peace gives way to war, and common people whisper about the Seven Heroes—a group of historical figures who had once saved the world and are now awaited to do so again.
